History

Located on the coastal side of Namibia, near the Atlantic Ocean, lies the town of Walvis Baai.

Walvis Baai (meaning Bay of Whales in Afrikaans) was originally discovered by the Portuguese explorer Diaz but the Portuguese did not formally stake their claim on the land.

During the year of 1793, the town was funded by the Dutch people residing on South African land. Soon enough, the area was annexed by British especially since they found out that the German people where interested in the land.
